Are you craving a flavourful and aromatic dish to spice up your dinner ? Look no further than this mouth-watering Chicken Tandoori recipe! This traditional Indian dish is packed with savoury spices and tender chicken, making it a perfect choice for a special meal or a weekend treat. Let's dive into the details of this delectable recipe and learn how to make it at home!

Ingredients:

To create the perfect Chicken Tandoori, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 600g chicken (preferably boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder or Cajon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon tandoori powder
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoon plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • optional red food colouring

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients. Mix well to create a marinade.

  2. Add the Chicken: Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade. Coat the chicken evenly with the marinade, cover the bowl, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

  3. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180c fan or 200c conventional or gas mark 6, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  4. Bake the Chicken: Place the marinated chicken pieces on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred.

  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes, serve hot with naan bread, rice, or a salad on the side.

Tips for Success:

  • For an extra kick of flavour, consider adding a pinch of ground red pepper or cayenne to the marinade.
  • If you prefer a smokier flavour, you can grill the marinated chicken instead of baking it in the oven.
  • Feel free to adjust the spices to suit your personal taste preferences – more chili powder for heat, more garam masala for warmth, or more turmeric for color.
  • Serve the Chicken Tandoori with a side of cooling cucumber raita or mint chutney to balance out the spices.
